Moscow, April 6 (Reuters) - Russia may cancel import duties on up to 350000 tons of white sugar (5362, - 6.00, - 0.11%) between May 15 and August 31, the Russian government said in a statement on Monday.
Russia, one of the world's largest wheat exporters, has imposed several grain export taxes and a series of other measures since December to stabilize domestic food inflation. As a measure to stabilize its domestic prices, Russia has taken measures to stabilize the prices of sugar and sunflower seed oil until the end of March. The Russian government and producers are discussing the extension of these measures, including the extension of sugar to June.
